Supported hosts.

Hoist is model-agnostic. If your AI client supports MCP, use the MCP endpoint. If it does not, use the API or CLI.

Auth summary

  • API: send Authorization: Bearer $HOIST_ASSETS_API_KEY. Health is public; protected endpoints return 401 without an API key or OAuth bearer token.
  • MCP: the AI host completes OAuth consent and stores a scoped access token for https://mcp.assets.hoistai.com/mcp.
  • CLI: pass --token or set HOIST_ASSETS_API_KEY. The CLI uses the same API key model as the REST API.

Host not listed?

If the host supports remote MCP with OAuth, use https://mcp.assets.hoistai.com/mcp. If it only supports HTTP calls, use the REST API. If it runs shell commands, use the CLI. Gemini Web is not treated as launch-supported until it exposes a verified Hoist MCP connector path.
